New Patch


Hey all! We're making a new update that should fix some of the bugs and QOL issues that the game came out with. Most of these changes are things we wanted to do for the jam version but didn't have time to implement, but there are also some balance changes here in response to how well different elements fared. The modules should now be closer in power and the levels should be a lot more fair.

Workshop

  • When creating a module, the module is now immediately held by the cursor rather than needing to be clicked again to be held (in other words, when you try to drag a new module out of the menu, you actually drag the module now)
  • The orc count is now updated when creating/deleting a module rather than when a module is placed/removed
    • The above 2 changes also fix an exploit that can allow the player to gain infinite orcs by deleting modules they haven't yet placed
  • Increased shield's cost (2 -> 3)
  • Updated module descriptions
    • Shield and motor now show their orc cost
    • Attack party now shows correct orc cost and has a clearer description
  • Cockpit moved to the top of the menu

Levels

  • Removed level 5
  • Made level 2 the last level
  • Changed tower positioning of last 2 levels
    • The new positions should make these levels more difficult
  • Level Select screen uses the wooden button sprite rather than the default unity sprite
  • Siege machine now makes a single 90 degree turn at corners rather than 2 45 degree turns
  • Increased castle sprite size so it's at a consistent scale with every other sprite

Combat

General

  • All entities now have visible health bars
    • The health bar's size increases with higher max health

Shield

  • Adds much less health to the Siege Machine (30 -> 12)
    • For reference, the Siege Machine has 40 health by default.

Crossbow & Autobow

  • When multiple of these modules are used, they now fire one at a time rather than all on the same frame
  • Arrows now always face the correct direction when fired
  • Arrows deal more damage (2.5 -> 4)
  • Increased projectile speed by 100%
  • Arrows have much longer lifespan
  • Crossbow now fires towards the cursor
  • Autobows now have limited range
    • When stacking autobows, the range of each subsequent autobow decreases
  • Autobow stops firing when there are no more towers in range

Orc Attack Party

  • Orcs move 2.5x faster and attack 66% faster
  • Orcs have more health (10 -> 15)
  • Orcs now prioritize towers close to the siege machine

Arrow Tower

  • Deals less damage (8 -> 5)
  • Increased projectile speed by 20%

Lightning Tower

  • Deals less damage (10 -> 7)
  • Always fires in all 4 directions now

Magic Tower

  • AOE attack expands 5x faster and reaches 50% farther
  • Attacks twice as often, but deals less damage (6 -> 4)

Ice Tower

  • Now acts as a shield and no longer fires projectiles
    • The projectiles were non-functional so this doesn't actually change anything mechanically, but it does mean they play a different role when building levels.
  • Increased health (10 -> 20)
